What is Reiki?

Reiki is a Japanese word that breaks into two Kanji (characters):

Rei meaning Universal

Ki meaning Chi, or Life Energy

Putting those two together, Reiki is Universal Life Energy.

Reiki IS—Reiki is always within us, outside of us, and available to us. The question remains, are we opening to this magnificent ever-present energy, or are we closing off to it? Are we making choices which allow this energy to flow and shine brightly through us? Or are we dampening our light due to beliefs, thoughts, and decisions because we feel unworthy, unknowing, undeserving, or afraid?

When we ‘practice Reiki’, we are really practicing ‘Being Reiki’. We are practicing opening to this energy, as this energy. In our Self-Healing sessions, we can simply place our hands on our head and clear & empty all thoughts that could be getting in the way of existing in this wellbeing at all times.

Reiki is that which animates our world. To tap into this infinite energy is to be continuously renewed and supported. When we practice Reiki, we align ourselves with receiving from an infinite reservoir of healing, warmth, & positive energy. This energy is powerful enough to dissolve anything other than itself, until all that is left is this pure positive energy. It feels SO incredible to be able to put your hands on any place of discomfort and almost immediately feel relief! I absolutely LOVE the benefits of knowing how to give Reiki through my palms. It has brought nothing but blessing after blessing into my life, and it feels like everyone’s birthright to know how to self-soothe, and self-heal in this way!

My Story

Practicing Reiki sessions on myself (Self-Healings) helped majorly in the recovery from all of my chronic illnesses, autoimmune disorders, and bodily injuries. I even had many addictions & mental/emotional imbalances that were debilitating to say the least. Once I learned Reiki and began practicing on myself each day, a greater understanding came and with time, all of my issues were cleared away for good.

Not only did Self-Healings help my physical body and mind, but they also brought me a greater sense of connectedness, trust, and clarity. I felt more spiritually fulfilled, whereas previous to learning, I felt very alone and discontented.

Is Reiki for Everyone?

Reiki is not only for everyone, but it is already within everyone!

Learning how to allow these energies to flow freely throughout you brings greater relaxation, peace, and overall well-being.

Practicing Reiki is very similar to meditation, but it feels MUCH better and more enjoyable! Giving Reiki Self-Healing sessions helps you focus and rest to a degree that can positively shift any dis-ease, imbalance, or anxiety.

I believe that nobody is broken, and nobody needs healing or fixing. But there can be a covering up of our life force that may occur due to many possible causes—diet, beliefs, lifestyle choices, etc. Practicing Reiki while prioritizing being the brightest, most wholesome & content YOU, makes life more enjoyable in every possible way. Then you get to share this joy with all those you come into contact with.

You also will feel much more willing and excited to share your other gifts with the world once you start to establish more of a relationship with and understanding of Reiki! It is a win-win for anyone in your life. The more you open to the Reiki magic, the more your life unfolds with awe, wonder, and magnificence!

How can I learn and give Reiki?

1. The Academic Portion

There are two main parts of a well-rounded Reiki training. One is the ‘Academic Portion’ which you are learning here (through the videos and writing) in this free class. This class gives you the information needed to thoroughly understand what Reiki is. It also shares that learning the art of Reiki Self-Healing essentially can provide you with a simple relaxation technique that can assist you in experiencing a greater sense of wholeness, peace, & connectedness.

2. The Attunement

Now, this is the exciting part! ‘Attunement’ means to empower another. In the Usui Reiki technique, there is a tradition in which the teacher (me) has to pass the healing energy from their (my) palms to the student’s palms (yours). This can be conducted in-person or virtually, as Reiki travels beyond time and space. This activates the healing energy and generates an aligning process for 21 days.

I will share a little more in a video below about the Attunement process and my experience receiving it nearly 20 years ago when I first learned.

What happens after finishing this class?

If you have watched all of the videos in this class and read all of the information, then you have not only become more acquainted with what Reiki is, but you will have received the ‘Academic Portion’ of a Reiki Certification as well! You will then be prepared to receive the Level 1 Attunement should you choose to. You can hear more about that in the next video.

Usui Reiki is one of the most popular forms of Reiki from which many other varieties and styles stem from. To honor this tradition of Usui Reiki and to strengthen the healing power of our own palms & to realign our systems, we receive our Reiki Attunement from a Reiki Master. Being a Reiki Master, I am able to send this Reiki Attunement to you, no matter where in the world you are, since Reiki is effective beyond time and space. Once you have received your energetic Attunement, you will be a certified Usui Reiki Level 1 Healer & Practitioner. If you chose to receive your Attunement, (which is so wonderful!), you will then go through a 21-day energetic aligning/cleansing period in which it will benefit you to stay hydrated, eat well, sleep the right amount, and spend time each day giving yourself a relaxing Self-Healing Reiki session. I will share more about how to give yourself a Reiki Self-Healing session once you’ve been attuned.

To clarify and share more about the levels of Usui Reiki, I was originally taught that there are 3 levels. They are as follows:

*Reiki Level 1— You focus on healing yourself and deepening your spiritual connectedness.

*Reiki Level 2— You branch out and start to give Reiki to others. You also learn the powerful Reiki symbols and learn about giving Reiki long-distance.

*Reiki Level 3— You become a Reiki Master Teacher, with the ability to attune and certify people to become Reiki Level 1, 2, or 3 Healers.

There are many opinions about different aspects of Reiki, but I like to keep it simple with what my teacher taught me, and also with what I have actually experienced in the decades of Self-Healings, sessions with others, and teaching Reiki. This class was designed specifically for beginners to learn Usui Reiki Level 1. Now that you have read & watched the ‘Academic Portion’, you are ready for your Attunement, if you’d like to become a Reiki Healer & Practitioner.

Reiki Attunements can typically be VERY expensive. My desire is to make this experience economically available to everyone. Instead of personally charging, I’m asking that participants make a small donation towards environmental preservation and conservation.
